Elephant-induced structural changes in the vegetation and habitat selection by large herbivores in an African savanna

► We model habitat selection of five African herbivores species. ► We examine the effect of elephant-induced vegetation structural changes. ► There is no clear significant effect of overall elephant-induced vegetation changes. ► Subtle effects, based on the nature of the elephant effect, are revealed. ► All species select for a higher visibility, often associated with elephant activity.
