Príncipe island hawksbills: Genetic isolation of an eastern Atlantic stock

► First genetic characterization of a hawksbill rookery in the eastern Atlantic. ► The Príncipe rookery was found to be fixed for a single haplotype (EATL). ► The EATL haplopyte had no known rookery source prior to this study. ► This unique haplotype was phylogenetically linked with Indo-Pacific clades. ► Results revealed the high degree of isolation and fragility of this rookery.
