Passive acoustic monitoring of Sciaena umbra on rocky habitats in the Venetian littoral zone

► We surveyed the Venetian littoral using the passive listening technique. ► The acoustic survey allowed to detect and map Sciaena umbra sounds. ► A meta-analysis suggested the association of a typical fish community with Sciaena umbra. ► A wider application of passive listening on Mediterranean rocky habitats is proposed.
