- Shear rate is weaker for the material with larger internal friction coefficient.
- The average granular temperature decreases with increasing friction coefficient.
- Angle of repose in bidisperse system is between each one in monodisperse system.
- There are three different effect domain regions are defined.
We performed experiments to measure the dynamic properties of granular matter in a rotating drum device. The rotation speed, particle surface structure, and side wall condition were used as three experimental control parameters. The purpose was to quantify the effect of the internal friction of particles in both monodisperse and bidisperse granular systems. The results indicated that the internal friction of particles had a significant effect on the granular flow in the rotating drum. The dynamic properties were shown to decrease with an increase in the internal friction of particles and to increase with an increase in the rotation speed of a monodisperse granular system. In a bidisperse granular system, the dynamic properties of the particles were more complicated and inconsistent.
