Multi-timescale high-accuracy modeling of hydro-mechanically coupled processes in fluid-saturated poroelastic media

In order to accurately model the behaviour of geostructures, the interaction between solid-deformation and fluid-flow needs to be considered for porous geomaterials. However, a dilemma in the selection of suitable time-step size and high computational accuracy always exists in temporal finite difference-based numerical methods. Especially, the load is long-term, cyclically varied and highly time-dependent. The goal of the paper is to develop a new computational scheme for high-accuracy modeling of hydro-mechanically coupled processes for fluid-saturated poroelastic media, in which high-accuracy computation is achieved through a multi-timescale approach consisting of the precise integration of an exponential matrix.
