In this study we show how methods from the theory of stochastic processes can be applied to problems in dispersion theory.First, we show that Taylor dispersion with adsorbing boundaries is easily transformed into a new Taylor dispersion problem without adsorbing boundaries. The transformed problem can then be solved using any of the traditional methods used for Taylor dispersion.Secondly, we consider the dispersion of particles in a channel (between parallel plates) with one partially adsorbing surface and one perfectly reflecting boundary. We determine the exact law of the position of adsorption for an arbitrary channel flow in terms of an infinite series of iterated integrals of the flow field, which is assumed to be a function of the cross-channel coordinate only. We also consider the case of shear flow over an adsorbing plane, by taking the limit where one of the boundaries is taken to infinity
