Effect of bud scars on the mechanical properties of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell walls

▸ Freshly grown S. cerevisiae cells were sorted by number of bud scars using FACS. ▸ Mechanical properties of the sorted cells were found by compression testing. ▸ 69% of cell walls were linear elastic to bursting but only 32% of daughter cells. ▸ Scars caused mechanical property differences between daughter and mother cells.
