Liquid phase densification of Al-4.5Â wt.% Cu powder reinforced with 5Â wt.% Saffil short fibers during hot pressing

► Konopicky slopes raise with the hardening due to Cu diffusion into Al matrix. ► Cu liquid phase is found at the boundary grains and in the inner zones of Al grains. ► 15% Saffil fibres raises the flow strength for unreinforced Alumix 13 powder.
