Application of iron-based powders in tungsten inert gas welding for 17Cr-10Ni-2Mo alloys

► TIG welds produced with FeF2 powder had a satisfactory surface appearance. ► With FeO or FeS powder increases both the joint penetration and weld aspect ratio. ► With FeO or FeS powder reduces both the angular distortion and hot crack. ► FeO powder assisted TIG welding can significantly improve the weldment performances.
