Sphericizing tungsten particles by means of localized preferential oxidation and alkaline washing

► A novel technique has been developed to produce near spherical tungsten particles. ► No coarsening of the W powder particles occurred during the process. ► The alkaline washing removed the oxide layer of the particles effectively. ► A model was proposed for the localized preferential oxidation process.
