Straw-to-soil or straw-to-energy? An optimal trade off in a long term sustainability perspective

The “improved” rotational wheat cropping system (W2) gave the best performance in terms both of GHG savings and fossil displacement, thus stressing that straw use for energy generation in parallel with the optimization of the cropping system are key factors in long-term environmental sustainability.
