An application of the actuator disc model for wind turbine wakes calculations

► In this study a novel technique for wind turbine wakes simulation was implemented. ► Production data from a small coastal wind farm in Finland were used for validation. ► Results demonstrate an improvement comparing to the traditional analytical models. ► Such model can be usefully implemented for large offshore wind farm wakes simulation.
