A thermodynamic analysis of high temperature gas-cooled reactors for optimal waste heat recovery and hydrogen production

► Waste heat from HTGR can be used to increase the total efficiency. ► HTR-10 integrated with ORC is able to increase the total efficiency of 13.6%. ► By integrating ORC and IS cycle with VHTR can increase the total efficiency of 8.6%. ► Waste heat recovery can reduce the consumption of nuclear fuel.
