Determining an optimal recovery time for construction rebar workers after working to exhaustion in a hot and humid environment

► Field studies were conducted during the summer time in Hong Kong. ► 19 rebar workers performed steel bars fixing and bending until voluntary exhaustion. ► Physiological Strain Index was used as a yardstick to determine the rate of recovery. ► An optimal recovery time can be determined based on the cumulative curve.
