Investigation of thermal performance of reflective insulations for different applications

► Reflective insulation is being used in roof and wall system of building envelopes. ► R-value is affected by specimen orientation, direction of heat flow and emissivity. ► Horizontal specimen with downward heat flow results in the highest R-value. ► Horizontal specimen with upward heat flow results in the lowest R-value. ► Using ASTM C-518 test method would result in underestimation of specimen R-value.
