Impact of a cool roof application on the energy and comfort performance in an existing non-residential building. A Sicilian case study

► We presented a cool roof application on a 700 m2 roof in Trapani, Sicily. ► The monitoring results demonstrated a roof surface temperature decrease of up to 20 °C. ► The indoor monitoring also demonstrated CR mitigated indoor thermal conditions. ► We demonstrated the effectiveness of CR in reducing cooling and total net energy demand. ► CR resulted as the most efficient among the different cooling technologies considered.
