In the paper, the composite synchronization of four eccentric rotors (ERs) driven by induction motors in a vibration system with a mass-spring rigid base is investigated. Composite synchronization is a combination of self-synchronization and controlled synchronization. Based on fully considering the model of the induction motor, an electromechanical coupling model of a four ERs driven vibration system is developed to perform an investigation on the composite synchronization. An adaptive sliding mode control (ASMC) algorithm and the master-slave structure are employed to implement the controlled synchronous motion of two motors. On basis of the controlled synchronization, the self-synchronization is studied by using a modified average perturbation method. The numerical simulation is employed to confirm the feasibility of the composite synchronization method. The effects of structural parameters are discussed. Additionally, some experiments are operated to validate the proposed composite synchronization method again.
