Measuring the earnings returns to lifelong learning in the UK

► Panel data models estimate the returns to qualifications obtained in adulthood using the British Household Panel. ► Time-varying heterogeneity is accounted for by controlling for prior wage trends. ► Our results show a medium-run return for women of 10% on hourly wages. ► For men, initial suggestions of a positive return are not robust.
