The eye and the fist: Optimizing search and interdiction

► We address an interdiction scenario with an airborne sensor and a surface vessel. ► Asset allocation is modeled by a stochastic dynamic-program. ► We address both physical and behavioral signatures of a potentially hostile object. ► Empirically, we find that a heuristic policy achieves 60% of the optimal value.
