The optimal allocation of server time slots over different classes of patients

► We allocate capacity (e.g. operating room time slots) over different units (e.g. medical disciplines in a hospital). ► We develop a bulk service queue Markov model and use quadratic programming to obtain the optimal capacity allocation scheme. ► The optimization procedure minimizes the weighted waiting time of different classes of patients. ► Depending on the problem size an exact approach or a step-wise heuristic can be used.
