Mathematical programming formulations for approximate simulation of multistage production systems

► We propose LP models for approximate simulation of multistage production systems. ► The proposed models preserve linearity even when used for optimization. ► They can be view as a sort of interface between simulation and optimization of DES. ► Used in simulation-optimization, they help to fast reduce the initial solution space. ► We show with two different applications the generality of the proposed models.
