From NURBS to NURPS geometries

► NURPS splines are an interesting alternative for tensor-product NURBS in IgA. ► They allow local refinements, a B-spline representation, and exact description of conic sections. ► In IgA it is crucial to keep the exact description of the geometry as produced by CAD systems. ► We present a strategy to convert a planar NURBS geometry into a NURPS representation. ► Numerical examples are provided to illustrate this approach.
