Higher-order linked interpolation in quadrilateral thick plate finite elements

► We analyse higher-order linked interpolation in quadrilateral Mindlin plate elements. ► We develop a family of elements and assess performance of three of them. ► Various patch tests are performed successfully depending on the element order. ► The elements perform competitively for a number of standard benchmark tests.
