► We investigate the level of impulsivity in alcohol dependent patients. ► We analyze predictors of accidents and risky behaviors separately. ► Impulsivity is the most important predictor of risky behaviors after drinking. ► Impulsivity does not significantly predict a history of accidents. ► Global psychopathology and severity of alcohol dependence predict accidents.
