A comparison of static and dynamic hazard perception tests

► We compared performance on a static and dynamic hazard perception test in a group of young drivers. ► Static and dynamic formats produced weakly correlated composite scores, despite good reliability. ► Both formats predicted self-reported driving behavior, but not collisions or traffic violations. ► These findings have implications for a theory of hazard perception, training and evaluation of driving safety.
