Factors associated with hit-and-run pedestrian fatalities and driver identification

► We analyzed national, single pedestrian-vehicle fatal crashes for a 10 year period. ► We identified factors related to hit-and-run crashes and driver identification. ► Hit-and-run was more common in early morning, in poor lighting, and on weekends. ► Driver alcohol use and invalid license were highly associated with hit-and-run. ► Victim age was associated with driver identification among hit-and-runs.
