Cavitation erosion of TiN and CrN coatings deposited on different substrates

► Thermal properties of the substrates may influence mechanical properties of PVD coatings. ► The 8 and 12 μm thick coatings undergo degradation mostly via spalling. ► Resistance parameter RCAV shows very good fitting to experimental date points.
