In-service behaviour of (Ti,Si,Al)Nx nanocomposite films

► nc-TiAlN/a-SiNx nanocomposite coatings shows a promising cutting performance. ► Self hardening process occurs during the turning tests. ► Spinodal segregation of the nanostructure nc-Ti1−xAlx/a-SiNx, occurs with temperature. ► Wear resistance is improved due the formation of an Al2O3 layer.
