Application of Fastsim with variable coefficient of friction using twin disc experimental measurements

► Experimental measurements are used in the tangential problem in the wheel-rail contact. ► A reduction of the initial slope together with a friction function must be considered. ► The coefficient of friction must be obtained as a result of operating conditions. ► To model wear, different wear and friction functions must be used for different surface conditions. ► The proposed model has an influence on the interaction force and especially on wear estimation.
