The effect of large-scale turbulent structures on particle dispersion in wall-bounded flows

► We investigate the effect of large-scale structures on particle dispersion. ► We compare DNS of particle-laden turbulent Poiseuille and Couette flow. ► Turbophoresis is strongly affected by large-scales turbulent structures. ► Particles are organized in narrow streaks in the Poiseuille flow. ► A bimodal spatial organization of particles appears in the Couette flow.
