America's Quest for Clean Energy: Is Hydropower Relevant?

Hydropower needs to be a full participant in the future of renewable energy. It is essential to maximize the potential of additional clean, affordable, and renewable hydropower at existing dams and in regions that present opportunities for developing small hydropower projects in an environmentally sensitive manner. This will require Congress to pursue some aggressive oversight of the hydropower licensing process and pass legislation that prioritizes the clean energy and electricity grid stabilizing benefits of hydropower.
