Early Developments of Control Theory in China

After a brief review of automatic equipments developed in the ancient China, the paper surveys the development of modern control in China. First, several key persons who played pioneering roles in promoting control in China are introduced. The paper then stopped on the emergence of modern control in China in 1950s and 1960s. China's participation in international control activities, in both early and current days are reminded. Finally, some progress and contributions made in control theory and its applications in China for recent years are briefly mentioned in the paper.
