Measurement of the fluid flow rate with use of an elbow with oval cross section

The paper presents an attempt to use elbows installed on the piping to control and measure volumetric (mass) flow rate of the fluid. With the aim of a practical realization of the method, a special test stand with the piping and with two elbows installed was constructed. The numerical computations were performed by application of the software package FLUENT 6.1. Obtained results were compared to corresponding ones coming from orifice measurement.
