Standards are very important in every area of life. Particularly in the area of flow measurement they are of great financial importance. In November 2006 there were meetings in London of ISO/TC 30, the International Standards Organization technical committee covering flow measurement in closed conduits, and of all its subcommittees. This paper describes what was achieved at each meeting and the current work programme of the committees.ISO/TC 30 continues to have a dynamic work programme. There are improvements to differential-pressure meter standards, which have great financial significance. There will be harmonization in water meter standards. There will be new ultrasonic standards, improved electromagnetic meter standards and a revised vocabulary. Some new areas, for example hydrogen, may require an extension to existing standards. In addition to these areas new standards will be required in new areas, for example microfluidics.
