In various control systems, linear frequency modulated broadband signals (LFM or chirp signals) are often applied as a probe. Their recognition depends on their compression based on the matched filtering. This work presents the solutions to essentially improving the detection of the short chirp signals. The first is connected with matching chirp and impulse response parameters to a specific window to minimize a variance of a frequency response form. The second one is based on using nonlinear operations on convolution results in the time domain. The proposed matched filtering method allows only one sample in the output main lobe and the accurate location of its position in the appropriate sampling period.
