FUNDAMENTAL MODELLING OF PROCESS UNITS IN PLATINUM OPERATIONS

Equipment modules (such as pumps, sumps, conveyors and cyclones) and controllers (such as PID controllers) were modelled individually (using vendor specific information) in Simulink to build a model library which could then be used for rapid development of process models which are used to simulate the various stages of ore processing from ROM ore to concentrate. This provides the potential to perform pre-commissioning tuning of controllers as well as offline tuning of advanced controllers without interfering with production.
