Impact of the Network Structure on Transmission Dynamics in Complex Networks*

Studying transmission dynamics in complex networks is a hot topic. Through which, we can understand the transmission mechanisms of the real-world networks and find approaches to enhance their capacity. In this paper, based on the shortest-path strategy, the impact of the network structure on transmission dynamics are investigated. Specifically, two transmission problems in complex networks are discussed. One is the phenomenon of Braess paradox in complex networks, and the other is the transmission characteristics of the scale-free networks. For the former, a mathematic model, which can estimate the capacity of the network, is firstly deduced. Then based on this mathematic model, the phenomenons of Braess paradox under different conditions are comprehensively analyzed. For the latter, the transmission characteristics of scale-free networks are investigated and valuable results are obtained. This paper profoundly reveals the impact of the network structure on transmission dynamics, which has practical significance to the network structure design.
