Nanoplates-assembled SnS2 nanoflowers for ultrasensitive ppb-level NO2 detection

Tin disulfide nanostructured material has become a new gas sensing material thanks to its unique sensing properties. However, the mechanism of gas sensing of SnS2 via the adsorption and desorption of gas molecules is not well understood yet. Herein we investigate the sensing behavior of nanosheets-assembled SnS2 nanoflowers prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. The results showed that SnS2 nanoflowers exhibited an excellent response to ppb of NO2 (Rg/Ra=5.7 to 100 ppb and 25.4 to 500 ppb) at 120 °C, which makes them a promising candidate for high-performance low temperature sensing. It was also found that the sample had even higher response to NO2 at N2 atmosphere, which is different from the conventional chemisorption oxygen model where the presence of oxygen is essential.
