Platinum-cobalt PtxNi alloy nanoparticles have been successfully fabricated by the chemical reduction method, using carbon (Vulcan XC-72) as support. The resulting modified glassy carbon electrode shows excellent catalytic activity for the oxidation of glucose. Under physiological conditions, the oxidation current of glucose has two specific linear ranges of 2.0 â 420 μM and 0.5-8.5 mM, with high sensitivities of 1795.1 μA mMâ1 cmâ2 and 707.72 μA mMâ1 cmâ2, respectively. In addition, interference from the oxidation of ascorbic acid, uric acid, or acetamidophenol could be effectively avoided. The non-enzymatic glucose sensors based on this electrode exhibited excellent selectivity, stability, and repeatability. Thus, this novel non-enzyme sensor has potential application in glucose detection.
