Comments on a priori and a posteriori evaluations of sub-grid scale models for the Burgers' equation

Li and Wang [1] recently evaluated LES models for the Burgers' equation. They concluded that ILES should be used instead of LES if numerical methods with build-in numerical dissipation are applied. It is shown that evidence for this conclusion was only provided for a specific class of LES: non-realizable LES that do not honor mathematical properties of underlying variables to be modeled.
