On the classification of spare parts with a multi-criteria perspective

The objective of this work is to discuss on the classification of spare parts for manufacturing equipment. Not only is the attention put on the existing scientific literature about the subject, but also an on field analysis is presented within the paper. The focus is on the classification methods and on the adoption of a multi-criteria perspective which can best be referred to in order to get a proper criticality analysis of the spare parts. Remarks are also provided for what concern the implementation of spare parts classification with a multi-criteria perspective in a real industrial environment.
