Active control of coupled flexural-torsional vibration in a flexible rotor-bearing system using electromagnetic actuator

► Stability and control of coupled flexural and torsional rotor vibration-response is studied. ► Coupling caused by mass-unbalance and gyroscopic effect generates nonlinear equations of motion. ► MMS is used to analyze bisynchronous, combination natural frequencies and response. ► Single electromagnetic actuator effectively controls both transverse and torsional vibrations. ► Steady axial torque diminishes the influence of coupling.
