Influence of processing parameters on thermal field in Mg-Nd-Zn-Zr alloy during friction stir processing

Three groups of processing parameters were applied on as-cast Mg-Nd-Zn-Zr (NZK) plates during friction stir processing (FSP) and the thermal field was built through thermocouple measurements. The results strongly support that the processing pitch has an influence on the formation of onion ring, the microstructure evolution, as well as the related mechanical properties.239
