The anisotropy of laser melting deposition additive manufacturing Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si was studied by microstructure observation and room tensile properties testing. The as-deposited sample exhibits a strong tensile anisotropy due to the columnar grains morphology and the strong texture of β 〈0 0 1〉 parallel to the deposition direction. Annealing in the upper α + β region has little effect on the grain morphology and the anisotropy. However, annealing in the single β region transforms the grain morphology from columnar to equiaxed which substantially reduces the tensile anisotropy to a very low level.
