Mechanical and tribological properties of natural rubber reinforced with carbon blacks and Al2O3 nanoparticles

► Al2O3/CBs/NR show synergistic effect in mechanical properties and wear resistance. ► The tensile properties and tearing properties of nano-Al2O3/CBs/NR are improved. ► The optimum content of Al2O3 nanoparticles for tensile strength is 1-3 phr. ► The abrasion resistance of nano-Al2O3/CBs/NR nanocomposites is improved. ► NR containing CBs and HBP-Al2O3 show best wear resistance and thermal stability.
