Ultrasonic inspection of a welded stainless steel pipe to evaluate residual stresses through thickness

► The main goal is through thickness stress measurement of a stainless steel pipe. ► Welding process of pipe is analyzed by finite element welding simulation. ► Residual stresses are measured by using LCR ultrasonic method. ► The comparison between ultrasonic and FE results show an acceptable agreement. ► The FELCR method shows good potential in through thickness stress measurement.
