ANALYSIS OF THE HIV DYNAMICS

Modelling, identification and control issues are considered for the HIV infection. This is a challenging issue since infected patients have to get a life-time treatment. It is argued that system theory can provide helpful insight in the clinical situation of patients and help doctors in their decisions for the treatment. A clinical research program is under progress with the cooperation of Nantes University Hospital. It is shown that the identification of some system parameters may be used for an early diagnosis of the immunological and virological success or failure of an anti-retroviral therapy. Control issues are discussed as well.
