In this paper the temperature and temperature profile in axi-symmetric premixed, partially premixed and diffusion butane/air flames generated by butane torch is investigated using digital holographic interferometry. Double exposure interferograms of axi-symmetric premixed, partially premixed and diffusion flames of butane/air mixture are analyzed using Area matrix method, which is fast and is almost free from speckle noise. Experimental results reveal that the width of the flame increases slightly but the temperature decreases as the supply of air is decreased. If the mixing of air is stopped the turbulent diffusion flame results. The analysis of experimental results is presented.
► Hologram acquisition rate is ∼50 frames per second at its full resolution.
► Dynamic range of CMOS is 8 bit.
► 8 bit storing is accurate enough for causing no accuracy limitation during reconstruction process.
► Experimental results can be used to optimize the design of torch burner.
