2-Mercaptobenzothiazole benzoates as highly sensitive fluorescent enhancement chemosensors for transition metal ions

A new set of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole benzoates for highly sensitive fluorescent chemosensors of transition metal ions was synthesized and their fluorescence enhancement was obtained in the presence of transition metal ions such as Cd2+ and Hg2+, especially Zn2+, which results from the suppression of radiationless transitions from the nπ* state in the chemosensors.
