افزایش رقابت صنعت دریایی چین تبدیل به یک مسئله فوری و عملی برای دولت چین شده است. این مطالعه یک سیستم شاخص ارزیابی رقابتی جدید برای صنعت دریایی چین است که ظرفیت های جامع، ظرفیت تولید صنعتی، ظرفیت تحقیق و ظرفیت حفاظت از محیط زیست را اندازه گیری می کند. این مطالعه رقابت صنعتی دریایی را در طول سالهای 2006-2012 تحلیل می کند و 11 منطقه ساحلی عمده چین را به سه سطح رقابتی تقسیم می کند. مشخص شده است که رقابت صنایع دریایی چین از ظرفیت تحقیقاتی آن، به دنبال ظرفیت جامع، ظرفیت تولید صنعتی و ظرفیت حفاظت از محیط زیست است. تجزیه و تحلیل و طبقه بندی سطوح نشان می دهد که رقابت های صنعتی دریایی در گوانگدونگ، شاندونگ و شانگهای قوی است. تیانجین، ژجیانگ، فوجیان، لیائونینگ و جیانگسو نسبتا رقابتی هستند. هبی، گوانگشی و هینان ضعیف هستند. علاوه بر این، نتایج نشان می دهد که مناطق قوی و رقابتی برای کمک به رقابت صنعتی دریایی مناطق همسایه کم است. این مطالعه پیشنهادات سیاستی را برای افزایش رقابت صنعتی دریایی در مناطق اقتصادی آبی چین بر اساس این یافته ها ارائه می دهد.

Enhancing competitiveness of China's marine industry has become an urgent theoretical and practical issue for the Chinese government. This study creates a new competitiveness evaluation index system for China's marine industry that measures comprehensive capacity, industrial output capacity, research capacity and environmental protection capacity. The study analyses marine industrial competitiveness during 2006-2012 and classifies China's 11 major coastal regions into three competitive tiers. It is found that competitiveness of China's marine industry originates from its research capacity, followed by comprehensive capacity, industrial output capacity and environmental protection capacity. The analysis and tier classification show that marine industrial competitiveness is strong in Guangdong, Shandong and Shanghai. Tianjin, Zhejiang, Fujian, Liaoning and Jiangsu are moderately competitive. Hebei, Guangxi and Hainan are weakly competitive. Moreover, results show that strongly competitive regions did little to assist marine industrial competitiveness of neighbouring regions. The study offers policy suggestions to enhance marine industrial competitiveness in China's blue economic regions on the basis of these findings.
